Summer Book Group: “An Indigenous People’s History of the US for Young People”

First session: Monday, July 20, 9am

Readers and thinkers of all ages are invited to join First Parish’s summer book group, to be facilitated by Katherine Jenkins with support from Lucas Gonzalez Milliken and Emily Lichtenstein.  The group will read An Indigenous People’s History of the US for Young People, by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz.  This book reveals the roles that colonialism and policies of American Indian genocide played in forming our national identity, and will encourage you to think critically about your own place in history.

Copies will be available for pick up at the church on Sunday mornings beginning Sunday, July 26, or at other times to be arranged by contacting Kit Binns (admin@firstparishdorchester.org) or Lucas (dre@firstparishdorchester.org). It is also available through the Boston Public Library as an ebook or via curbside pick up.
The first meeting will take place next Monday, July 20, at 9am. For details about joining by Zoom, contact Kit or Lucas at the above email addresses.

Please join us even if you have not gotten the book!
