QUOTED:

“I think we should find other ways to ‘stand our ground.’ We should take back that language and give it a new meaning, one in which we are standing with and for the common good, one in which we stand and walk with each other across the boundaries that have divided us.”

—The Stories We Carry and the Stories We Tell

May 20: Bridges: Abandoned or Not - Rev. Arthur Lavoie
In our spiritual lives we build bridges to the sacred, rituals and practices that connect us more deeply to God or the source of meaning in our lives. There are times though that those bridges have to change as we grow and mature.

May 20, 12:30pm: Annual Meeting of the Corporation of First Parish Church. The will be a pot-luck luncheon buffet before the meeting. Please bring a dish to share.

May 20: Bake Sale, Yard Sale and Car Wash
the Youth Group has planned to host a fundraiser during the Annual Meeting. They are hoping to raise $300 through a hybrid Bake Sale/Yard Sale/Car Wash so that they can go on a trip together in June. An anonymous donor has offered to match whatever funds the youth are able to raise on May 20, and the group is hoping to use this money for a community-building trip to Six Flags New England. Please let one of the youth know if you would like to donate anything to the bake sale or yard sale. $10.00 car wash; $10.00 interior cleaning.

HOLD THE DATE:

CHURCH AND COMMUNITY

worship

"You need a sanctuary, a place to rest – to share your joy with others, or to cry on someone’s shoulder, or to laugh and sing ... That is what church and community is about ..."
—Sermon by Lee Paczulla, Director of Religious Education, April 22, 2012. Read more.

This Week in Religious Education

On Sunday morning our children will be in the classroom preparing for RE Sunday. The Primary class will learn about what it means to lead church for a community of people, practice a few songs, and work on their bell-ringing skills. The Intermediate class will play a few church-themed games, and will brainstorm and write some special RE Sunday lyrics for our Choral Response. The Youth class will meet in the Parish Hall to set up for the Youth Group fundraiser after church.

First Parish offers a parent-run Religious Education program for children and childcare for infants and toddlers. Read more.
